Trapped Water in Walls – Prevent in the Exterior Walls with the HYDRODRY® System

The HYDRODRY® Moisture Control System is a self-draining vented wall system that is used behind a veneer stone wall, stucco, or masonry siding. It works by creating a defined ventilation cavity within the wall to eliminate trapped water or vapor.

The unique patented high-performance profiles, allow water to drain from within the wall cavity. Any remaining water evaporates and escapes through the vent system located at the top of the wall.

The system begins with an AMICO-approved weather resistant barrier. Next, the AMICO HD rainscreen is installed to create an air and water drainage cavity. Its compressive strength helps to maintain the airflow cavity throughout the wall. A continuous matrix design ensures gravity-induced water flow. to allow and a fire retardant composition provides a class A flame spread that meets and exceeds building standards.

At the bottom of the wall, drain screed allows for moisture to flow freely down the HYDRODRY® rainscreen and out of the wall through a series of drainage slots. Dual drip edges divert water away from the foundation, and the compressed design allows for a stylish low-profile look.

Apart from stylistic reasons, the profile is critical when installing a rainscreen because it will not allow the bottom of the stucco wall to flare out and crack — which is highly likely with rainscreens installed with traditional weep screeds.

Our EZ vent at the top of the wall lets water escape through a series of venting slots – further allowing the wall cavity to dry out.

Another key HYDRODRY® profile is the AMIFLOW drip edge. It is a versatile profile allows you to fully vent and drain a wall over doorways and window’s. The heavy-duty construction also makes it perfect for venting veneer stone walls or other types of cladding.

HYDRODRY® allows for trapped water within exterior walls to be released, letting the structure breathe and the exterior wall cavity to remain dry and moisture free..

While traditional rainscreen systems can move water within a wall, they do not allow it to escape from the bottom. Our HYDRODRY® system works to remove water both through drainage and evaporation.
