Type of STAY-FORM® Application
The contractor has had many years of experience using STAY-FORM®. They are using it to form heavy mat slab bulkheads, wall bulkheads, keyways, inverted keyways and perimeter forms. The base mat slab is five feet thick and the walls are four feet thick (eighty feet high). This project will require 280,000 cubic yards of concrete.

Flushing Bay Combined Sewer Overflow Retention Facility

Type of STAY-FORM® application
Dan Peterson, Field Engineer, for this joint venture chose STAY-FORM® for the bulkheads (approximately 90,000 SQ. FT.) because it was faster and less expensive than alternative methods of building bulkheads in the six feet thick heavy mat slabs (120,000 cubic yards of concrete is required for this tank). Upturned (inverted) and conventional keyways had waterstop located in the middle of the keyway.

Type of stay-form application
This was the first time that the superintendent for Miron Construction, Bert Pieper, had used STAY-FORM®. He said there was “considerable” savings (no labor costs for stripping formwork) in using stay-form in the double keyway bulkheads on the seven feet thick heavy mat slabs. This fast track power plant project required 65,000 cu. yards of concrete. “Time Is Money” and STAY-FORM® was a time saver on this project.

Type of STAY-FORM® Application
Mike Woods the project superintendent for The Haskell Company used STAY-FORM® for the first time on the three foot thick bulkheads on the base mat slab for the turn one tunnel project. Being able to continually set the reinforcing steel and not having to strip a conventional 3/ 4″ plyform bulkhead meant considerable savings in time and labor costs.
